Burn Day

Price: €1,75
Contains: 485 mL

In my last review I told you that one of my friends went to Canada, and another one went to Paris.
Well, fresh from la belle France, we present you one of our latest additions: Burn Day!

Packaging:
We were already familiar with Burn's skills for designing cans for their beverages.
Basically, this is just the resealable Burn can we showed you last time with inversed colors.
Well, you might call that a bit of a cheap move, but the result is actually very attractive.
The white and light blue combination is easy on the eye and makes this can have a very 'icey' impression.
This can is also fairly unique among the Burn cans.
They usually have the black and red combination and that's what I got used to, so from a great distance, this drink isn't that recognisable for me.
However; it surely stands out in my collection (in what I'd like to call the 'Burn Section').

Slogan:
None, why do we even have this section?

Taste:
Well, this is were it gets interesting.
We weren't sure on what to expect, but we knew that Burn certainly is not a brand that creates generic energy drinks.
There's only one way to find out what the drink is like and that's by putting four energy drink addicts on this 'case'.
We twisted open the top and a pleasant, apple-like smell filled the room.
Associating apple drinks with green, we expected a green fluid to come out.
Ehrm... WRONG! This stuff is blue, the exact same shade of blue as the one used on the can.
The taste wasn't really surprising, but we did get surprised; the taste of apple was joined by a touch of pear.
A really nice touch if you ask me.
Burn has gone easy on the carbonation this time and the sweetness is also kept very subtle.
The last issue is quite important; a lot of energy drinks actually have a truckload of sugar or artificial sweeteners in them and often it's overdone.
This is a drink you have to enjoy for sure; very different from the usual Burn drink, but I think it's delicious.
I would especially recommend this drink for people who want to try something new, but want to go easy on the sweetness.

Kick:
I found the kick to be rather poor, but I quickly found out why.
The amount of caffeine in this drink is considerably lower than usual.
Burn day 'only' holds 20 milligrams of caffeine, as opposed to the 32 milligrams that are considered normal with us.

Price/Quality Ratio:
This is certainly a drink that you'll have to enjoy.
The taste is brilliant, we can't deny that.
€1,75 is a little expensive though; it's normal for Burn standards, but the price will still stop a lot of people of buying Burn Day.
We recommend it to enjoy it every once in a while if you get your hands on it and do not expect to get a big buzz or anything, just enjoy....

Burn Intense Energy Shot

I referred to Soria Natural Fast Liquid Energy as the first energy shot I've ever had, but I'll call this the first REAL energy shot I've had.

The shot comes in a 50 ml bottle, it might not seem that much, but it's enough to give a real buzz.
The bottle is all black, and the graphics are kept simple, but still they're effective and easily recognised as a Burn product.
On the front there's (obviously) the Burn logo, and the back of the bottle displays the nutrition facts and ingredients per unit.

Before I got the shot I heard that it's recommended to take just 1 of this shot a day, and maybe 2 if the drinker will sport intensively.
When I got the shot and tried it I found out why...
On the other cans and bottles in my collection there's always the same message: High caffeine content, but most of the time it's not really to be noticed in the drink itself. The caffeine content of those drinks is relative low to this shot.

In this drink, however, the caffeine is highly noticable, mainly because the amount of caffeine is way higher than in the standard energy drink.
The drink tastes almost like pure caffeine, with a touch of strawberry flavor (the strawberry flavor is in all of the Burn energy drinks, see Burn and Burn Intense Energy).

Because of the relative extremely high content of most ingredients*, it's not surprising that the drinker will get an extreme amount of energy.
This effect, however, doesn't last that long, I think this energy shot is ment to be drunk by sportsmen who need much energy for a short time, sprinters in particular.

I think this energy shot is great, both in taste and buzz, and the bottle doesn't look bad either.
But there's on thing that stops me from taking it often: the price.
€1.99 has to be paid for this drink at the local gas station, and I think that is way to expensive for such a small bottle.**

*comparing the Burn energy shot (50ml) with the regular Burn energy drink(250ml), per unit:

ingredient: .......shot: .......regular drink:
caffeine ...........80mg ......80mg
B3-vitamins .......9mg .......14,5mg
B5-vitamins .......3mg .......4,75mg
B6-vitamins .......1mg........2mg
B12-vitamins ......0,05mg....0,1mg
taurine............. 200mg ....0,4% = 100ml (= 100mg?)
glucoronolactone ..70mg .....0,24% = 60ml (= 60mg?)

** Caffeinpower: I'll buy some for camps when I stay awake till the late hours (or maybe better said: till the early hours), or sometimes stay awake the whole night. Another possibility when I buy this shot is for when I have to sprint at school, or get somewhere in a very short amount of time by bike. But I'm not going to buy it for longer efforts, like a judo training of 1 till 1,5 hours, . I'm not going to buy it as an everyday drink too, because it's too expensive and too small to enjoy over a longer amount of time.

Burn intense energy

A 485ML can, so no full 500ML. But this one is special. It is refermable.
I got it when I was on a 'hunt' in the local supermarkets looking for new energydrinks. It did cost me €2,29, and is with that price one of the most expensive drinks I've had so far.
The can looks really cool. The colours are just perfect. A black can, with two red stripes on the top with black letters in it. A nice, but easy flame on it. Then it has got the 'Burn intense energy' in a good way on it. I got to say, this is one of the cans from my own country I love.
The drink itself has a different tast as Red Bull, so a RB clone it's not for sure. I think you can compare it to the Monster Ripper: totally different as Red Bull, really sweet and a drink you got to enjoy.
