Speedway Light

Price: €0.36
Contains: 0.25L

Having to taste this drink sends shivers down my spine.
Why? Well, we already voted Highway Light as the most disgusting energy drink ever.
This is just a drink that's supposed to replace it to clear their name.
I had the regular variant of Speedway yesterday and (as you can read from that review) I wasn't very pleased with the taste.
Well, here goes nothing.

Packaging:
Same issue as with the regular variant; the can looks excactly like its predecessor, except for the name and the used font.
I still think that these cans have 'childish' plastered all over them, and I'll recommend Speedway to make a better design that really catches the eye and is considered 'cool'.
There are a lot of possibilities when you're using cars as your main theme, but Speedway chose the wrong way.

Slogan:
No slogan, that's fine with me.
As I mentioned in the previous review (about the regular Speedway drink), I don't have hard feelings about the low-budget or store brand drinks not having a slogan.

Taste:
As mentioned in the little intro, this was the aspect I feared the most.
The smell and looks were all the same, so nothing special here.
The taste is worse than the taste of its predecessor.
Only now I don't suspect dirt being a secret ingredient, this time I swear I can taste something like turpentine.
Not that I ever tasted turpentine, but I can imagine the taste by smelling it, and I think now I know what it would taste like (mixed with a little bit of energy)...

Kick:
No kick at all.
I was positive about the kick on the regular Speedway one, but this is a true disappointment.

Price/Quality Ratio:
36 cents?! I want my money back!
The P/Q is just bad, 36 cents might not seem much, but the drink somehow manages not to match up to its price.

Speedway Energy Drink

Price: €0.29
Contains: 0.25L

I heard from a friend of mine that Highway wanted to change their name and products because of their bad image (serves them right).
So now they're called Speedway, huh? Well let's see

Packaging:
The packaging is the same as the Highway can, except now the name is different (obviously)...
As if the car itself weren't childish enough, the new 'Energy Drink' text has been written in a font you'll most certainly find on a cartoon meant for four year olds.
If Highway really wanted to change their image, they should have started off by creating an entirely new can.
As a matter of fact, they hardly tried anything new, so I fear the worst for the taste...

Slogan:
The're no slogan to be found on this can.
Well, that's something I'll forgive them for, as it is pretty common with the cheaper or store brand drinks.

Taste:
Same color, same smell, so no surprises at that point.
The taste was something different, but not in a positive way...
They actually managed to make the drink taste WORSE than it's predecessor.
I have to say that's quite an achievement, because Highway tasted so bad already.
The drink has a very chemical aftertaste.
If you ever wondered what turpentine would taste like when mixed with a low-quality energy drink, I'll recommend this one.

Kick:
This drink surprised me with its kick.
I actually got a slight kick of this one and felt more awake than before I drank it.
But still, it's a drink from which you should take multiple cans of before you get a true buzz, and since it's so disgusting, I won't even try to find out.

Price/Quality Ratio:
30 cents huh? So this will be a low budget drink then, what a consolation.
I'll not recommend this one if you only have 30 cents to spend.
If your budget really is that low, buy Energy Slammers.
This is the worst energy drink I've tried so far (I haven't had the sugar free one yet, so wish me luck).
