Rockstar Recovery

Price: €1,30
Contains: 0,5L

Okay; it took us quite some effort to get our hands on this drink, which basically means that one of us took a journey by train to another province to find the snowboardstore where this drink had been spotted.
You see, the CR crew always had a weak spot for the Rockstar drinks and we almost jizzed our pants when we found out that we could actually get the newest Rockstar stuff in our own country!
Anyway; his quest was succesfull, as he returned with no less than 8 of these bad boys.

Packaging:
You'd have to be semi-blind not to spot this one from a considerable distance.
This can is really flashy and it stands out more than any other member of the Rockstar family.
It's the color that does the trick; our second favorited brand has chosen for a very bright shade of yellow that wouldn't look bad on your everyday sportsdrink.
Along with Rockstars' updated template, this drink will really draw your attention.
You can see a very subtle watermark in the background, which basically consists of Rockstars' name brand being repeated.
It really does add something; it prevents the can from becoming a tad boring but in such a way that it doesn't make it too busy either.
Another nice detail is the top.
The entire top is colored black, which isn't something we've seen before.
Normally it's just silver and in very special ocassions, just the pull tab is colored.
The last thing I find interesting and appealing is the addition of the color red.
You'll find it in the Recovery script and in the little stars near the top that devide the listed key ingredients.
We really like this can; it's certainly special, even for Rockstar.

Slogan:
No slogan is featured on this can and we consider that a bit of a let down.
Anyway, let's focus on the text the can does have.
Well, we think that 'Energy+Recovery' and 'Energy+Hydration' come close to being actual slogans, so let's pick those.
So this can implies that we'll certainly get an energy boost, along with both Hydration and Recovery, which are the prime ingredients to making a good sports drink.
These small bits of text have made us really curious to the drinks' effect.

Taste:
The can mentioned that this drink was 'non-carbonated lemonade with added juice'.
Well, that about summed it up, but still we wanted to experience every bit of this unusual Rockstar creation.
The fluid has a very bright yellow color indeed and it had a faint lemon scent; the absence of carbonation can also be noticed easily.
We took a sip and we could easily pinpoint the taste.
In our country we don't know lemonade like the Americans do, but we still recognised it from something else: a lemon-flavored ice lolly.
That's right; we could copy this drink by putting some lemon ice lollies in a funnel in the opening of this can and wait for them to melt (but then you'll unfortunately miss out on the truckload of key ingredients).
It does have some minor differences though.
You will taste the caffeine, along with some sourness that ice lollies dont have.
The aftertaste hangs in there for quite some time, so you will still enjoy this drink half an hour after you've finished it.
Well; we have to admit that this drink really is something new (you must be getting tired of that phrase, but I feel like using it even more) and we are delighted by its' taste.
Yep, only the drinks' taste make us want to buy it again, but let's see if the kick wants us to get on the train again.

Kick:
Absolutely phenomenal.
Next to your everyday energy drinks' key ingredients (caffeine, taurine and guarana) this drink also contains electrolytes.
Like most people, I didn't have a clue what those are supposed to be, so I decided to look it up on Wikipedia.
The first sentences:

'In chemistry, an
electrolyte is any substance containing free ions that make the substance elcetrically conductive. The most typical electrolyte is an ionic solution, but molten electrolytes and solid electrolytes are also possible.'

Well, ehrm... yeah, my head hurts now.
Just to sum it up: when used in this drink they give one hell of a kick, yeah!!!

Price/Quality Ratio:
This drink actually was a tad cheaper then most of the Rockstar drinks we've bought in the past.
Normally, the prices vary from €1,39 to €1,49, with €2,39 being the absolute peak of expensiveness (you're probably not surprised if i tell you that was at a gas station).
With €1,30 this is the cheapest Rockstar product thus far.
And next to that: we consider it to be the best one,
We'll bring a truck the next time we'll visit that snowboardshop, that's for sure...

Rockstar Punched Apple

Price: €1.50 or €1.75
Contains: 0.5L

I picked this one up at a gas station when I was on a trip to the other side of the country.
Because I probably won't have the chance to visit that gas station again, I bought two of them immeadiately, and later on four extra on a market as a little provision.

Packaging:
Like all Rockstar drinks in this country this can comes in a 0.5L can.
It uses the attractive aluminum tread plating template, which has been used on all the Rockstar cans we know of, except for the regular variant.
This time the can has a nice shade of green, which of course corresponds with the fact that this drink contains apple.

Slogan:
I've heard that the true slogan is 'Party like a rockstar'.
Too bad I can't find it anywhere on my can.
All I can find is: 'Rockstar Energy Drink is designed for those who lead active and exhausting lifestyles' and 'Apple, 10% juice', but I will not count those as a slogan.
I assume that 'Party like a rockstar' really is the true slogan, and I quite like it.

Taste:
Although the can claims that it only contains 10% apple juice, the drink has the same smell and color.
The only difference in looks between Rockstar Punched Apple and true apple juice that I can mention will be the fact that there are some bubbles present.
Not only does the drink LOOK like apple juice, the taste is almost the same as well.
It's hard to believe that this drink only contains 10% juice, since it tastes just like apple juice, though more sour and carbonated.
Well, that really isn't a bad thing, i mean, the drink still has a great taste all over it.
True Rockstar quality, I love it.

Kick:
Rockstar Punched Apple not only has a true Rockstar quality flavor, the kick is true quality as well.
Though the kick was not as big as the kick that the original gave me, a kick is still a kick.
The buzz was decent one, that's for sure.

Price/Quality Ratio:
I paid €1.50 for this drink at a market and €1.75 at a gass station.
That makes this drink a little more expensive than the Rockstars, but it's normal that you pay some extra at gass stations, so I'm sure that this drink would have costed €1.39 if it was sold in a normal supermarket.
That being said, the price quality ratio is about the same as with the other Rockstars.
The price might seem a little high, but with Rockstar you get true quality.

Rockstar Punched Guava

Price: €1,29 or €1,39, depending on where you get it.
Contains: 0,5L

This tropical fruit/energy drink mix is really one of my favorites.
Too bad it's somewhat harder to get than the other Rockstars...

Packaging:
This 0,5L can uses the 'Rockstar Aluminum Tread Plating' template, meaning that the layout is pretty much the same as with the Rockstar Juiced and Energy Cola cans.
The primary colors are purple and gold, further some black and white details are present.
The top is once again coloured gold, and this time the lid is black.
The golden Rockstar logo and Punched text really contrast with the purple body, and they stand out more than on the Juiced Mango can.
The colors really suit eachother, and the can layout and design are just great.
Rockstar did it again; five stars.

Slogan:
I've heard that the true slogan is 'Party like a rockstar'.
Too bad I can't find it anywhere on my can.
All I can find is: 'Rockstar Energy Drink is designed for those who lead active and exhausting lifestyles' and 'Double Size, Double Kick', but I will not count those as a slogan.
I assume that 'Party like a rockstar' really is the true slogan, and I quite like it.
But since it's not to be found on the can, it'll only get three stars.

Taste:
This drink has a true guava color, which isn't really surprising since it contains guava (a tropical fruit).
The taste is pretty unique compared to other energy drinks.
It doesn't taste like an energy drink at all, this is something new, it's like carbonated guava juice and it tastes great.
Compared to Juiced Mango, it's more carbonated and less sweet.
It's really a drink you should enjoy.
No doubt in my mind, five stars for sure.

Kick:

This drink sent me flying, but unfortunately not as high as the the other Rockstars did.
It does contain the same extended amount of active ingredients as the other Rockstars, but the kick is only avarage.
I'll give it three stars.

Price/Quality Ratio:
€1,39 Again, I'll not go over the P/Q ratio as deep as I did with the other Rockstars, since it's basically the same.
This drink will also be rewarded four stars for the Price Qualty Ratio.

Rockstar Juiced Mango

Price: €1,29 or €1,39, depending on where you get it.
Contains: 0,5L

Rockstars energy juice combination with mango flavor.
This is one of my personal favorites.

Packaging:
Again, the drink comes in a 0,5L can.
The colour scheme is mainly orange and gold, with some black details.
Like the Rockstar Energy Cola this one also has the aluminum diamond tread plating pattern on it.
The top is once again custom: it's gold with a red lid.
Rockstar always does a good job with the cans, and that also counts for this one: four stars.

Taste:
The drink has a yellowish orange colour and the smell of mango is higly noticeable.
It's best recommended if you have a sweet tooth, because this one is a little sweeter than normal.
You can truly taste the juice, the tropical taste of mango really make this drink.
Rockstar Juiced Mango is subtally carbonated and that's good, because too much bubbles can ruin a good energy/juice combination.
Superior drink, real Rockstar quality, I'll reward it a solid five stars

Kick:

I truly got the classic Rockstar kick of this one, it should be, because like with every big energy drink brand the number of energizing ingredients is considerably higher than with the smaller brands.
Next to the standard caffeine and taurine, this drink also contains guarana, ginseng and B-vitamins.
Good kick, four stars.

Price/Quality Ratio:
With a real Rockstar product comes a real Rockstar price.
I paid €1,29 for it, but again it's really worth it.
Four stars, not giving it five because €1,29 still isn't the money you want to pay for a drink everyday.

Rockstar Energy Cola

Price: €1,39
Contains: 0,5L

This is the Energy Cola version of Rockstar.
You might think that it's pretty much the same thing as Red Bull Simply Cola, but it isn't.
This drink actually contains energy drink (hence the name: Energy Cola).

Packaging:
This drink comes in a 0,5L can, like all other Rockstars (well, at least like the ones we know).
The can has the colours red, silver and black.
The body of the can is mainly red, and has a cool Aluminum Diamond Tread Plating pattern on it.
Rockstars big star logo has changed to silver instead of gold this time, so it fits in better with the can.
Cool can, I'll give it four stars.

Taste:
After I poured it into a glass I saw the drink had the classic cola colour.
The smell was pretty much the same as regular cola as well.
It tasted (as expected) like cola, but even sweeter and more carbonated.
This drink was brilliant, appearantly Rockstar are more into cola than Red Bull.
I'll give four stars for taste.

Kick:
Since this isn't a pure energydrink I didn't really expect a buzz.
Well, actually I git a bit of a buzz of this one, but obviously not the buzz I got from a regular Rockstar.
The kick gets three stars.

Price/Quality Ratio:
Like all Rockstar products here, this drink costed me €1,39.
I really liked the drink, so I guess it's worth it.
Too bad I can't get this drink that much.
I have to to another town when I want it and the price isn't something I'm willing to pay for a drink everyday.
Three stars for P/Q.

Rockstar

Price: €1,29 or €1,39, depending on where you get it.
Contains: 0,5L

Rockstar (often typeset as Rockst★r) is one of the bigger brands that we can get in the Netherlands.
I really like the name Rockstar, it really gets to you.
Also I've spotted more Rockstar flavors than I did with Monster, an other big brand (I've spotted 4 Rockstar flavors in The Netherlands already, as opposed to only three Monsters).

Packaging:
This drink comes in a black 0,5L can.
It has a custom top: It's coloured gold with a red lid, which fits in nicely with the overall colour scheme of the can.
The eyecatcher is the Rockstar logo, which is rotated and placed in the lower center of the can.
I really like the combination of gold on black, and it works out nicely on this can.
I'll give four stars for the packaging.

Taste:
I poured this one into a glass and I saw that the drink wasn't caramel coloured, so it really is something special, YAY!
The drink had normal shade of yellow, and it had quite some foam on top.
The taste is really good, it a little bitter and has a touch of sweetness, GREAT!
It's not a Red Bull clone for sure, which really made me happy and excited about this brand.
I'll give this drink four stars.

Kick:
I really felt a buzz after drinking this one.
Pretty odd, I'm not used to energy drinks that actually work...
The kick gets four stars!

Price/Quality Ratio:
The drink is really good, but it did cost me my €1,39.
Well, I guess that's what you can expect of a product of a prime brand in energy drinks.
All I can say is that the quality matches up to the price, but the €1,39 is still pretty expensive.
Neutral: three stars.
